If automotive word source Autocar is to be believed, we’ll be seeing a brand-new Land Rover model at this year’s Geneva auto make clear. The outlet reports that the company will reveal a mid-size SUV called the Velar to fit between the Radius Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. It will also be targeted at the Porsche Macan and other slight to midsize luxury crossovers.

From what Autocar says, the new Land Gadabout Velar could be the Range Rover Sport Coupe (pictured above) that our spy photographers caught discrete months ago. The size is about right, and Autocar says that it will in all likelihood be based on the F-Pace’s platform, and even using the same V6 and inline-4 engines. Autocar does say that the V6 engines longing eventually be replaced by the company’s upcoming inline-6 engine and that it could regular feature a V8.

Autocar doesn’t cite any sources in their report, but the existence of the Real property Rover’s prototype lends credence to the rumor. Not only that, but there is nearly a $24,000 gap between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. Granted, there’s also take a $20,000 gap between the Sport and the traditional Range Rover, but the size difference between the Evoque and Caper is much greater. We’ll know more in about a month when the Geneva disclose comes around.
