Land Rover Heritage vehicle list expands with addition of best-selling Freelander 1

The iconic, massively popular, ground-breaking Land Rover Freelander 1 has recently joined the brand’s Series I, II, III, Range Rover Classic, P38 Range Rover and Discovery 1 and 2 as a Land Rover Heritage vehicle.

Manufactured from 1997 until 2006, the Freelander 1 offered something new and fresh to the automotive audience, pioneering the compact premium 4×4 class – and because of this, it quickly became Europe’s best-selling four-wheel drive vehicle for five successive years, and it still remains to be one of the brand’s best-selling models of all time.

Numerous state-of-the-art driver assistance systems were debuted on the Freelander 1 too – 16 of the vehicle’s features were patented, including Hill Descent Control (HDC), Immediate Reduction Drive (IDR), a viscous-coupling (VCU) and an innovative ABS system designed specifically for off-road situations.

Having been out of production for a decade now, as a Heritage model, the Freelander 1 and its owners will benefit from support by the brand’s Heritage experts, ensuring that they can continue enjoying vehicle ownership for a long time to come. As Land Rover Heritage specialises in cars, services, parts and experiences, owners can also take advantage of the 9,000+ individual part numbers available for the Land Rover Freelander 1.

Director of Jaguar Land Rover Heritage, Tim Hannig, commented on the Freelander 1’s new position, saying: ‘With the addition of the Freelander 1 as a Heritage model, Land Rover is reaffirming its support and commitment to its loyal customers by providing exceptional cars, services, parts and experiences for models more than 10 years out of production. Genuine Land Rover Heritage Parts for Freelander 1 have been engineered and tested in extreme conditions. As such it gives our customers total peace-of-mind that their vehicles are maintained to the highest possible standards.’
