Innovative British manufacturer, Jaguar, has launched a new course to start young driver safety early, educating adolescents on safe, responsible driving through lessons.

For its course, Jaguar will offer the 180PS diesel XE with an automatic transmission, complete with government-approved dual controls for instructor use.

Drivers from 11 – 17 years old will have the chance to get behind the wheel of this award-winning saloon to learn the basics of driving in a realistic road setting, along with the importance of driver safety and responsibility, all under the watchful eye of a qualitied safety instructor. Instilling this understanding at a young age will keep roads safer and show Jaguar as a safe automaker in terms of its values and vehicle technology.

This fun but sheltered concept is meant to teach driver safety, prepare young drivers for their driving test and to show the importance of acting responsibly on the road. The driving experience involves two-way traffic, junctions and roundabouts, turning, steering through slaloms and parking. Some locations also offer drivers the experience of handling the car at speeds of up to 40mph.

Statistics show that one in five new drivers is involved in an accident within six months of getting their licence, but that drivers who learn road safety at an earlier age lower the risk of accidents. Jaguar hopes to reduce this initial figure with its new course, extending the learning period of road safety with a qualified instructor.

The course is available across the UK in Bath, Birmingham, Coventry, London, Manchester and Surrey. For more information on Jaguar’s young driver safety lessons, or to test drive the widely acclaimed XE, contact your local Lancaster Jaguar Retailer.
