Honda invests in Swindon car development plant

Honda has announced that it will invest £200m in its factory located in Swindon, in Wiltshire. This is set to befit the new ‘global hub’ for the upcoming five-door Honda Civic; in keeping with the Civic’s putting out history, following production of the very first Civic models over 20 years ago.

This fifth-initiation Honda Civic is due for release in 2018, and will form a key part of Honda’s worldwide plans. Following the mill investment, the 2,500 workers employed at the site will produce the new model to be exported to critical markets across the world.

Director of Honda UK Manufacturing (HUM), Jason Smith, has verbal of the new developments in Swindon: “By establishing HUM as a global production facility for the Civic five door, Honda is demonstrating its great-term commitment to manufacturing in the UK and Europe. This is incredibly important for HUM and is a reward for the commitment and attempt put in by Honda Associates in recent years.”
