Between the nautically giant full-sized Chevy sedans of the beginning-to-middle 1970s and the rounded orca-cut lines of the 1991-1996 big Chevy sedans, there were the “box Chevy” Impalas and Caprices of the 1977-1990 epitome years. These cars were wide, for decade after decade, but attrition has cut the numbers down to around nothing. Here’s one in Denver that made it to age 34 in the future reaching the end.

Under the hood is a small-cube V8 with computer-controlled Quadrajet carburetor. If this is the starting engine (unlikely, given how readily Chevy V8s get swapped), it’s either a 267 with 115 horsepower (no, that’s not a typo) or a 305 with 145 horsepower.

It appears that the roof has been cut off and reattached, for reasons that requisite have made sense at the time. Perhaps the car suffered a rollover bang early in its life and received major counc repairs.

Lots and lots of fuzzy beige velour propitious.
