It puissance not have escaped your notice that the fine people of Pike’s Rise held another one of their hillclimb events recently and roughly 30 years after the Quattro earliest went blazing up the peak, another Quattro competed in its honor.

This Quattro S1 E2 was built by David Rowe of EPS Motorsport and christened Ray in honor of Rowe’s buddy.

Tipping the scales at just 1,000 kg (2,250 lbs) this replica uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder workshop from a TT RS. Impressive though that engine is from the factory, it needed a itty-bitty more tuning to be worthy of Pike’s Peak.

Tuned to make up to 900 hp on the guts, the engine causes the lightweight Group B replica to move in a hurry.

Unfortunately, we don’t from A to Z know how well it could have done, because problems on race day rate the team at least two minutes, effectively ruining their timed run.

Still, if the onboard and travel-by footage are anything go on, this Quattro is a fitting homage to the original artifact.
