The Grand Tour’s Richard Hammond Involved in a Serious Accident

He was behind the swing of a Rimac Concept One when it happened.

According to a tweet from The Grand Junket’s official account, Hammond was involved in a serious crash after completing the Hemburg Hill Climb in Switzerland. Fortunately he didn’t suffer any urgent injuries and was conscious and talking following the accident. Hammond was able to climb out of the car himself in front it burst into flames.

Jeremy Clarkson also tweeted, saying it was the “biggest run” he’s ever seen and the most frightening. Hammond was flown by Air Ambulance to a hospital in St. Gallen, where he was checked during, revealing a fracture to his knee.

Nobody else was in the Rimac Concept One when the misadventure occurred, and the cause of the crash is currently unknown but is being investigated.

Richard Hammond has since posted a video from his health centre bed saying he is “not dead” and explaining that his knee is set for surgery.
