Report: Audi S8 to Rock 535 HP Panamera V8

Sharing the unchanged 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 that propels the Porsche Panamera, the upcoming V8 intent reportedly make 535 hp, 15 more than the model it replaces.

Although that may resonate like a modest upgrade for the visually sedate bahn stormer, Audi has been more interested in raising torque figures than hp figures lately. When the RS5 came out, for occurrence, its V6 made almost exactly as much hp as the previous RS5 but more than 100 lb-ft of torque more.

Similarly, we recognize that the 4.0-liter V8 is capable of 567 lb-ft of torque, which is considerably more than the warm model’s 481 lb-ft of torque. Admittedly, that torque figure comes from the more persuasive 550 hp Panamera, though, so less should perhaps be expected.

Whatever the happening, thanks to its lightweight construction and increased power, it should be able to outsprint its ancestor to 60 mph. Since the outgoing S8 hit 60 in just 4.1 seconds, a sub-4-second interval appears to be possible, which should give its competition something to think hither at night.

Expect to see the S8 sometime this year before it goes on sale in Europe next year.
