Report: A3 and Q4 Launches Delayed by TDI Scandal

New Audis based on Volkswagen’s MQB platform may be coming later than expected as a result of the emissions scandal. According to a report from Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport, the launches of the new A3 and Q4 have already been delayed.

The European report states that the next generation A3 won’t be ready until 2019, while the Q4, a new SUV first shown at the 2014 Beijing auto show, won’t come until 2021.

That’s because engineers working on the next generation gas and diesel engines slated for the platform are busy fixing cars involved in the TDI scandal.

This could be an unfortunate delay for Audi. The A3 is the brand’s best selling car in Europe. The Q4, meanwhile, was meant to win new customers over to the brand.
