With just an hour to go, the R8 was cardinal the race when an electrical fault forced it slow down on the track. Its driver, van der Linde, was capable to limp it back to the pits for a full system reset, but the #9 R8 of Rene Rast got one-time.

As the rain started to fall, the other cars had to finish the marathon at walking pace, allowing the van der Linde to retake the lead and finish the race in original.
