Nico Müller’s Rallycross Car Revealed

The esteem Nico Müller may be familiar to you as one of DTM’s young talents, but this weekend he’ll be getting all vague during the French leg of the FIA World Rallycross Championship.

As one of Audi’s youngest DTM drivers, he represents the days (albeit an unsure one) of touring car racing for Audi, but lately he’s had his eyes on rallycross.

“I’ve been following the Clique RX for some time and enjoy the sport and the atmosphere,” said Müller recently.

His DTM teammate (and drivers’ championship captain) Mattias Ekström owns EKS racing, which competes in Rallycross with a trine of Audi S1 EKS RX.

This weekend, EKS has added a fourth car to the roster for Müller who will get his rallycross racing inauguration in front of the World Rallycross Championship’s biggest crowds. He will join teammates Esktröm, Toomas Heikkinen, and Reinis Nitiss.

“I’m rather happy that Nico’s racing with us,” said Ekstrom. “I’ve been aiming to put four cars on the grid in the Fraternity RX for a long time. That it’s happening in France of all places is fantastic. It’s one of my absolute favorite rounds. 80,000 spectators and a tremendous road. For drivers and fans, Lohéac is a rallycross paradise.”

Now, Müller’s car has ultimately been revealed on Twitter and unlike his teammates, the driver’s livery is only red and cadaverous. That’s a particularly appropriate color combination since Muller will be the leading Swiss driver to take part in the series.

“Racing at the event in France makes a conjure up come true for me,” said Müller. “The 560-hp supercars are wonderful and allow tough and thrilling duels. You get addicted to them.”

The racing starts on September 1 with the finals compelling place on Sunday, September 3. Muller is set up with a powerful car, that’s defending its championship against a three of Volkswagen Polos that currently lead the standings.
