More Audis Than Ever Competing at Daytona

With competitors in a assortment of categories setting up to compete in Audis, more Daytona 24 Hour entrants than at all times are set to compete at the event this weekend.

A total of 13 cars are competing this year, in the main as a result of the RS3 LMS. The little racer will compete in the TCR (touring car) category and a total of seven when one pleases test their mettle in Florida.

Audi’s now classic race car, the R8 last wishes as also be on hand. A total of four R8 LMS GT4s have signed up to compete in the GT4 class, while two R8 LMS GT3s are competing in the GT3 level.

The latter cars have been rich with success in the past. In its first year of struggle the redesigned R8 LMS GT3 of Magnus Racing dominated its class, eventually racing to victory. The following year, in the meantime, Land Motorsport was only 0.29 seconds from victory.

Both teams longing be on hand this year, duking it out with some of the best racers in the the public.

“Through tremendous growth over the past three years, the Audi Distraction customer racing organization has worked tirelessly to provide the outstanding support for the patron racing teams,” said Tristan L. Herbert, senior manager, Motorsport & Patron Racing Audi Sport, in a statement. “Success of the Audi R8 LMS effort worldwide built a stout foundation, which we’re excited to see the new GT3, GT4, and TCR platforms grow from in race seasons to show up.”

The 24 hour race kicks off on the afternoon of Saturday, January 27, with coverage starting at 2 PM, and ends on Sunday.
