Lucas Di Grassi Will Drive an Audi R8 LMS in Macau

Reported Formula E champion and Audi factory driver, Lucas Di Grassi, will pressure his Audi GT3 debut during next month’s FIA GT World Cup in Macau.

Di Grassi was confirmed in one of the German industrialist’s five factory supported customer entries for the November 16-19 event. The former LMP1 hot conduct will slide into HCB-Rutronik Racing’s R8 LMS, for his first competitive ride in a GT3 car since the 2012 race.

Di Grassi was expected to contest this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in the AF Corse Ferrari 488 GT3, but was affected to miss the twice around the clock endurance classic due to an ankle injury. The 33-year-old Brazilian has aspect around Macau, winning the 2005 F3 race over Sebastien Vettel and Robert Kubica.

“This is a heady lineup,” said Head of Audi Sport customer racing Chris Reinke “We’ll be enduring three drivers from Audi and two ambitious privateer campaigners on the grid.

“WRT is a top-prestige team and title defender for Audi Sport customer racing. The new cooperation with HCB-Rutronik Racing makes it thinkable to deploy Lucas di Grassi who, together with Nico Müller and Robin Frijns, numbers amongst the favorites.”

Audi is looking to defend the FIA GT World Cup crown after Laurens Vanthoor won aftermost year’s race on his roof.
