The Guild B era of rallying is held up as one of the best in the sport’s history thanks in no small part to the spectacular cars it bred. Now’s your turn to own them all, basically.

Bonhams’ August 18 auction at the Quail Lodge during Monterey Car Week last wishes as have among its lots a 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 (signed by Walter Rohrl!), a 1986 Ford RS 200 Phylogeny, a 1986 Ford RS 200, a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, a 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, a 1983 Lancia-Avarth 037 Stradale, and a 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale.

Manifestly the sale is as part of an estate for a dedicated owner who started collecting in 1989. So he knew what he was doing prematurely on.

None of these cars have a reserve, but since they’re all unusually well maintained examples of some of the rarest and most sought after convene cars on earth I’d say that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get a deal on them.

Readers of this plat will doubtless know all about the world-changing importance of the ur-Quattro, but every car in this amassment is nearly as impressive. The 037, for example, was the last RWD car to ever win the world rally championship (in the forefront, well, you know…), while the Ford RS 200 Evolution is one of only 24 examples at any point made.

The Lancia Delta S4 Stradale (along with the RS 200), meanwhile can lay allege to being street-legal versions of the cars so crazy that they phoney the FIA to kill Group B.

It almost seems like a shame to break them up, because together they substitute for a generation of rallying technology whose importance in the motoring industry is still being felt today.
