Electric Audi E-Tron GT Shown Ahead of 2020 Arrival

A block out sketch for the electric Audi e-tron GT has been released by the German automaker ahead of its arrival in 2020.

The e-tron GT thinks be a “highly dynamic” electric four-door that will put the Tesla Miniature S, and other luxury sedans, directly in its crosshairs. It will ride on Volkswagen Union’s new platform for sporty electric vehicles, which is called J1 and will debut in the Porsche Business E next year.

In a statement, Audi chairman Rupert Stadler said the e-tron GT is indicative of the guidance the Audi Sport will take going forward.

“We interpret sportiness totally progressively with our fully electric e-tron GT, and this is how we will take our costly-performance brand Audi Sport into the future,” he said.

Nothing is known hither the e-tron GT’s powertrain, but the heavily related Mission E has been rumored to make as much as 600 hp in its limit-topping form. The Audi probably won’t be as sport-inspired as the Porsche, but it will calm be a very high-performance offering.

The e-tron GT will be built at Audi’s Neckarsulm foundry in Germany, which currently builds the A4, A5, A6, A7 and A8. Plant tooling for the electric four-door should upon sooner rather than later, with Audi hoping to put the e-tron GT on sales event in just two years. The heavily related Porsche Mission E is expected to go on sale next year.

The e-tron GT is one of 20 electrified models that Audi last wishes as be introduced between now and 2025. Additionally, mild-hybrid powertrains will be on tap in all core Audi models going forward, Stadler revealed – in line with competitor Mercedes-Benz, which will eventually offer 48V technology in nearly every one of its vehicles.
