Ekström Goes Three for Three in World Rallycross Championship

Mattias Ekström continued his dominance of this year’s FIA Humanity Rallycross Championship, earning his third win in as many races to open the 2017 edible.

The Audi veteran was on sparkling form for the manufacturer’s home race in Hockenheim, Germany. A sodden wake trace was no impediment to the defending WRX champ, who jumped off the line to lead from the green to the checkered check off.

“Winning here at Hockenheim, in front of the many DTM and rallycross fans, is an incredible hunch,” said Ekström after the final race on Sunday. Despite the dominant effectuation, though, the weekend was not an easy one.

“On Friday and Saturday, we had a few problems keeping estimate with the competition,” said Ekström. “Unfortunately, due to my double commitment in the World RX and the DTM, I wasn’t proficient to spend a lot of time with the team and to help getting a handle on these issues. But the guys burned the midnight oil from Thursday on and did another odd job.”

Ekstrom was joined in the final race by his teammate, Toomas Heikkinen, who finished sixth. With that fruit, Heikkenin is in 10th in the drivers’ championship, which Ekstrom leads with 85 points—16 points lustrous of the nearest competition.

Unfortunately for Ekstrom’s team, EKS, second and third place in the drivers’ standings are occupied by the VWs of Johan Kristoffersson and Petter Solberg, whose crew PSRX Volkswagen Sweden leads the team standings.

Everyone will be uphold in action next weekend for the Coyote World RX of Belgium at the Circuit Jules Tacheny.
