For a interval, it looked as though all was lost for Audi factory driver Lucas di Grassi. The Brazilian racer, a year’s Formula E runner up, was the innocent victim of an course accident early on in the fourth exact of the Formula E 2017 season.

Despite taking damage, pitting early, and spending his race meeting conserving energy trying to coax his ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport Formula E car to the end of the chute, though, di Grassi managed to win by nearly two seconds after 45 laps of racing.

The Swiss driver was aftermost season’s winner after he and di Grassi crashed in the final race, leaving the time to be decided by a straight up fastest lap competition.

The two drivers are now within five points of one another heading into the next rallye, held in Monaco on May 13.

“We will fight and see what we can do,” says di Grassi. “As far as perfect speed is concerned, Renault is perhaps a step ahead, but we are again in a better condition. We’ll work even harder and try to make very few or no mistakes.”
