Between them, the Audi Q5 and Q7 secure earned 10 stars worth of safety bona fides from the Citizen Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which takes this stuff cute seriously.

Each earning five stars—the most stars NHTSA is avid to give out—the cars had to prove themselves as worthy crashers from the face, side, and top.

“Having the Q5 and Q7 earn the highest safety rating from NHTSA shows our commitment to fabricate overall crashworthiness and superior driver assistance systems a top priority for our customers,” said Scott Keogh, president, Audi of America.

More than that, Audi’s SUVs don’t just protect you in the event of a crash, but have active security measure to help prevent them happening at all.

Standard Audi pre sense diocese keeps you from hitting pedestrians and lamp posts by applying the brakes when one is pre sensed. And if it’s too fashionable to avoid a crash, pre sense will make the accident as cushy as possible by rolling up the windows and getting you into a sheltered position by pulling on the seat belts.

The rating confirms what the Insurance Guild for Highway Safety already asserted when it gave both the Q5 and the Q7 its Top Safety Pick.
