The three-door A1 liking no longer be available after Audi updates its European city car. As of 2018, people looking for a minuscule comfort car will have to buy a five-door instead, according to France’s L’Automobile.

Like its VW Society siblings, the A1 is set for a redesign, in which it will move onto the MQB A0 platform, making it lighter, more large, and better in a number of ways.

Dropping the three-door version, though, allows Audi to clarify the line, saving the brand money. It will also allow production to take off for from Belgium to Spain, where the Seat Ibiza, with which it shares its plank, is built.

On the plus side, though, the new A1 gets Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, along with LED lights, while diesel engines are set to become rarer, with just a 1.6 TDI on offer, as compared to three (1.0, 1.5, and 2.0) TSIs on proposal.
