Notwithstanding having  rough start to the year, Audi AG rallied and finished the year powerful. Thanks to a strong finish, the brand managed to sell upwards of 1.8 million vehicles in 2017.

Wen in the brand’s three major markets contributed to the strong sales, even though the increases in Europe and America were anything but surprises. China, though, was interfer and go for the first half of the year.

With its Chinese partners and dealers unhappy, Audi’s sales tanked in the at daybreak part of last year. The brand settled that dispute, though, and sales took off again in its individual largest market.

With sales increasing 1.1% in China last year, sales worldwide increased by 0.6%.

Sales were sinewy pretty much across the globe, with Germany, the US, Canada, and Asia all dollop buoy the company to its record breaking figure.

Not all markets were winners, still. Mexico and Brazil both saw drops of 1.8% and 16.5%, respectively. There’s security there, too, though. In the last month of the year, both markets saw double-digit increases. Brazil, in special, sold 80% more vehicles in December 2017 than it had in 2016.

In fact, that was the turn for the whole world, with markets like France and Spain selling 106% and 36% more this December than they had the year beforehand. All of which led to a 16% increase in sales worldwide for the month.

“Despite a very challenging spot we achieved positive growth in all core markets in 2017 and achieved a new record-breaking sales development worldwide. Every single market contributed to this outcome,” said Bram Schot, chief of sales and marketing. “This demonstrates the attractiveness of our product portfolio to our customers.”
