Apple CarPlay Will Now Support Apps Like Waze and Google Maps

Apple CarPlay is revered by innumerable and it’s easy to see why, allowing users to essentially display their phone’s content on their in-car digital display. 

One main downside to the tech company’s in-car multimedia system, though, is that it didn’t support third-fete mapping applications such as Waze and Google Maps, forcing users to use Apple’s own Maps app. That’s no longer the circumstance, however, with Apple announcing at its Worldwide Developers Conference this week that CarPlay thinks now support third-party mapping apps like Waze.

The change comes as constant more automakers climb aboard the Apple CarPlay train and commit to oblation the technology in its vehicles. In the past, Apple had typically favored its own apps and limited access to standard apps within CarPlay.

CarPlay also gives iPhone users in-car access to Apple applications such as Apple Music and iMessage, along with non-Apple apps such as iHeartRadio and Spotify.
